Raise a toast to the next generation of male contraception with these delicious and refreshing cocktails!

What better way to celebrate the male contraceptives of the future than by naming signature cocktails after them?! The mixologists at Male Contraceptive Initiative developed recipes for some adult beverages in an effort to mix a little fun into the serious nature of our work. Mix up a few of these with friends and family the next time you're kicking back and raise a toast to our hopeful future where these methods are available to all. Please note that you must be 21 years of age or older to consumer alcoholic beverages in the United States. Please drink responsibly!

​“The Reversible Vasectomy”

• 2 ounces (1/4 cup) gin
  
• 6 fresh mint leaves, plus more for serving
  
• 3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) simple syrup
  
• 3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) fresh lime juice
  
• 3 drops Angostura cocktail bitters
  
• Ice
  
• Directions: Add gin, mint, simple syrup, lime juice and bitters to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice. Shake until the mint is well bruised then strain into a glass with a few ice cubes. Garnish with more mint.​

"The Injectable"

• 3 ounces good tequila
  
• 1.5 ounces fresh lime juice
  
• Topo Chico
  
• Directions: Fill a lowball glass with ice. Add the tequila, the lime, then finish it off with Topo Chico. Stir.

"The Male IUD"

• 1 1/2 ounces dark rum
  
• 2 ounces pineapple juice
  
• 1/2 ounce lime juice
  
• 2 ounces club soda
  
• Optional: Seasonal fruit for garnish
  
• Directions: Pour the rum, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice cubes. Top with club soda and, if you like, garnish with seasonal fruits.

“The Implant” (or “Hydrogel-o Shot")

• 1/2 cup cold water
  
• 1/2 cup vodka
  
• 1 (3-ounce) package gelatin, any flavor
  
• 1 cup boiling water
  
• Optional: food coloring 
  
• Directions: Boil 1 cup of water on the stovetop. Pour a 3-ounce box of gelatin mix into a mixing bowl. Pour boiling water over jello and whisk until jello is completely dissolved. Add vodka and cold water, 1/2 cup each, to the mixing bowl; whisk to combine everything together. Place your 2-ounce plastic cups on a baking sheet without the lids (This makes them easier to carry and pop in the fridge). Pour the mixture into plastic shot cups and chill in the fridge until set, about 2 hours.

"The On-demand Male Pill"

• 2 ounces whiskey
• Directions: Pour the whiskey into a shot glass. Drink it. Repeat as needed.
