MCI’s Youth Advisory Board develops rich media content in an effort to reach diverse audiences with information to empower the next generation of male contraception advocates.
MCI’s YAB utilizes video content in order to illustrate the need for and potential impact of the next generation of contraceptives, and to frame these in the larger mission of providing reproductive autonomy to everyone. On this page, we share a collection of our youth leaders' videos.

MCI's Youth Advisory Board & Youth Volunteer Committee Members
MCI’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and Youth Volunteer Committee (YVC) are groups of young people (16-28) that provide their perspectives to MCI’s work and advocate for male contraception. They are a group of passionate young leaders involved in advising MCI’s staff on advocacy and research efforts, as well as peer educators and advocates for male contraception. Recently, YAB & YVC Members recorded testimonial videos to share their thoughts about male contraception research and development and their role in helping shape the future of family planning. Sahil Piyarali is a neurodiverse heterosexual single male living in Seattle, WA. He is passionate about male contraception for very personal reasons: he views causing an unintended pregnancy one of his biggest fears. This fear has driven Sahil to seek out more information about male contraception, as well as to seek out opportunities to advocate for the next generation of male birth control. MCI’s Lemonade Stand: Youth Leading the Way - The Future of Male Contraception
Male Contraceptive Initiative launched a series of virtual discussions affectionately titled “The Lemonade Stand” in order to provide learning opportunities while fostering a sense of collaboration amongst the male contraception research community during the quarantine related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fifteenth session was titled “Youth Leading the Way: The Future of Male Contraception” and featured presentations from YAB grantees Kenitimi Bikikoro on his work searching for new targets, Madeline Mahoney on her work understanding the perceptions of people who have gotten vasectomies, and Simran Mayra and Diba Dindoust as they explore drug repurposing. This film shares that discussion.
