Funding research into the development of novel methods of non-hormonal, reversible male contraceptives is the core activity of Male Contraceptive Initiative.
We are second only to the U.S. government in terms of funding male contraception development. Despite this accolade, there is so much more that needs to be done, and this work can only be accomplished through a drastic increase in funding. Without this infusion of funding, we will unfortunately remain 10 years away from a new male method for another 50 years. We developed the opportunities below with this in mind. Each of these sponsorships address an immediate need that will pay dividends in the short- and long-term.

Rent-a-Chemist
Human resources can be a significant challenge or constraint for those researching and attempting to develop new methods of male contraception. With research grant funding limited, a lot of the work is done with limited support. This $75,000 sponsorship provides an MCI grantee access to a full-time, completely dedicated chemist for one full year. Please find sponsorship details here.

Publishing research papers does more than advance a researcher’s career: it adds to the body of knowledge around a research area that allows others to build off of. Unfortunately, publishing papers comes at a cost beyond what many researchers have budgets for. This $15,000 sponsorship provides researchers who qualify (e.g., those working in the field of non-hormonal, reversible male contraception, etc.) the funding necessary to share their work freely and openly. Please find sponsorship details here.
